NYLA has decided to form “Select” teams for girls U13 (grades 5/6) and U15 (grades 7/8) this spring. Tryouts/evaluations will occur during the regular team practices in the last two weeks of March. However, you must register your daughter by March 7 if she wants to try out for the Select team. At this time, the registration is only for the tryout (no fee). Registration for the team itself will be at a later date by invitation after the tryout period.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW: The select team is for more experienced players who want to compete with their town teammates at a higher level. Our parent organization (MBGLL) requires members of the Select team to also play on a town recreational team. You cannot only play Select. Playing time will depend on level of commitment, effort, and attendance at practices.
PRACTICES: Wednesdays 5:15-6:15 (before the rec team practice). The Select practice is in addition to the rec team practices, which are Mon. and Wed., 6:15-7:30. Select players are expected to make all Select team practices – but, given the extra time commitment, are not expected to make all rec team practices.
GAMES: 6 Friday games – 4/22, 4/29, 5/6, 5/13, 5/20, 6/3
***note that 4/22 is Friday during April break
COMMITMENT LEVEL: Because Select is invite only, we expect players to make all Select practices. We will also ask all tryout registrants to identify those games that the player can commit to, and those expected to be missed. This info will factor into the tryout evaluation and decision, and will also help us determine how many players to include on the team.
COST: $100 – to be paid only by those invited to play after the tryout period. No fee to try out.
